Gold County Historic 3 Gun is a SASS-affiliated club that offers Wild Bunch style matches, roughly in keeping with SASS Wild Bunch Action Shooting (WBAS) rules. All bullets must be lead and SASS velocity guidelines must be followed (1000fps maximum for pistols, 1400fps maximum for rifles, see below for minimum power factor and velocities). An Open Category is available for those whose equipment doesn't meet one of the SASS Wild Bunch Categories. The typical match will be six stages. Cowboy, Wild Bunch or period military costumes are acceptable.
Ammo Requirements
Pistol 200 rounds
Rifle 60 rounds
Shotgun 36 rounds
Note: Pistol and rifle ammo must meet a minimum power factor of 150.
(Bullet weight X Velocity / 1000, e.g. 200gr X 800fps / 1000 = 160 Power Factor.)
You will need at least four magazines for your pistol. (There will be loaner .45ACP 1911 magazines available.)
All categories (except Open) require a full size (5" barrel), single stack, steel frame, 1911 style, semi-auto pistol in .45ACP caliber. The definitions of Traditional and Modern 1911s can be found in the SASS Wild Bunch Handbook.

The Open Category is intended to enable shooters to try out Wild Bunch without having all of the equipment and costume specified by the SASS Wild Bunch rules. Since shooters in the Open Category often have a competitive equipment advantage over shooters in the Modern, Traditional or Military Categories, they will not be eligible for awards at annual shoots or rankings at monthly shoots, and their times will be listed after all of the shooters shooting in SASS Categories. In other words, Open Category shooters will be able to participate in the matches and will be able to see their times, but will not be considered in the rankings nor be eligible for awards.
Magazine pads will only be allowed in the Open Category.
